EDUCATIONAL FOCUS IS TOO OFTEN SKEWED

We keep og getting things wrong.

The way people carry on about material resource needs for schools gets up my nose. What is needed are children and students who go to school from family backgrounds, which feature parents who care and who take time to help with the development of their children.

Schools need teachers who are not swamped, indeed drowned, in administrative and paperwork obligations.

Teachers have told me forever that they want the chance to teach and develop children – not be swamped by compliance and obligation requirements dreamed up by governments. Far too many people in high places (those in schools call it carpet) know nothing about schools and the pressures under which teachers operate.

Governments love to provide material resources because they look nice and allow boastfulness about ‘is this not a great edifice which I have built.’ Schools need extra people (people resources) to help with the development of children, who more and more come to school with no background at all in life and living.

Teachers will tell you they have to bring children up, providing the basic rudiments of development that should come from the home.

Loco parenting!
