THE THOUGHT POLICE ARE COMING

We live in a world that is becoming increasingly Clandestien and insecure.

There was a time when the general population – in Australia at least – enjoyed personal anonymity and privacy.

You could be your own person.

Enter the age of technology and the plague of social media. Along with this consider the government interference and organisational requirements that make it compulsory for people to reveal more and more about themselves.

The age of privacy is fast fading.

Privacy has been stolen by social media, with people sadly surrendering so much detail of their lives willingly. That can turn around to bind them.

A sad phenomenon on social media is how people are scarified by trolls and abuses. That is to the point where far too many people‘s lives are made totally miserable and even to the point of suicide.

There are far more curses than blessings about social media.

In an age when all is revealed and our privacy in real terms no longer exists, with everybody knowing everything about everybody, the last bastion of privacy are the thoughts that happen within your head.

I feel that it will not be long before some invention somewhere is cranked up in a way that will enable the thoughts of people to be read by others.

I remember reading 1984 by George Orwell when I was young, thinking that that type of revelation about people could never happen. I thought that all well was overstating things.

How wrong I was. The intrusion into the lives of people these days is more incisive than Orwell ever imagined.
