POH and a simple statement of fact

“The days they come and the days they go.

The weeks they come and the weeks they go.

The months they come and the months they go.

The years they come and the years they go.

The decades they come and the decades they go.

The scores they come and the scores they go.

Time goes on and on and on and on.

And during the long, long time, somewhere along that continuum, we come, stay awhile, sometimes for a little and sometimes for a longer time, and then,

We go.

  1. I feel like you are really contemplating your mortality in this poem. This is a wonderful poem. Having left a life of religious faith, I have sometimes imagined my funeral. What is it like without hymns, scripture, etc? Your poem strikes me truth that is deeper than many songs about some epistemological topic.

I am saving it and will always give my friend, POH, the credit.
