When one begins at teaching career and looks down the road into the future, it seems as if that road will never end. The future stretches in front of graduate educators, lost in the haze of the years to come.
That was how it was for me on graduation from Graylands Teachers College (Western Australia) in 1969.
Now all of a sudden that future is the past. It seems almost in the blink of an eye that “looking forward” is “looking back”. What did the years bring, and what contribution have I made? These are factors that I’m sure every educator contemplates.
For some, their career has been a joy. For others it has been a less happy experience.
Regardless, and whether we want to or otherwise, we all make a difference.
