My dream home, it’s where we live. Our house, our home, is the sensible, realistic, comfortable, lived-in, clean, renovated, well-maintained, and pleasantly atmospheric place of residence.

I would hate to live in a high-rise, fancy apartment, a penthouse, or some other place of opulent proportions. In those appointments, occupiers would be beholden to the dwelling.

My dream home is our real home, we have lived here since 1987. During that time we upgraded our place, with renovations coming after paying it off as quickly as we could. Mortgages make shudder and in Australia, house purchasers get lumped with variable-rate interest loans.

Our renovations and improvements have always been paid for in cash, for I abhor borrowing money.

Our home of 37 years is where I want to be.
