Today is my birthday. I am 78.
Birthdays seem to count for less and less the older one becomes.
Vulnerabilities increase and relevance diminishes.
NDIS providers and old peoples home owners, regard the chronologically enhanced as being cash cows.
Governments think of old ones as being bloody nuisances and are interested only in any financial benefit they can wring from the ancients.
Politicans pay homage and express appreciation to my generation through lip service, but their hearts tell a different story.
Sadly, some septuagenarians, like Putin are full of manipulative bastardry.
Others like Trump weave insidious mind pictures into the psyche of the mob, turning them into zombie like rats who followed the Pied Piper to perdition and hell.
There are not too many oldsters who are good leaders.
For mine, Israel’s Netanyahu is one of the very worst, using a war (which Hamas were bloody stupid to start) to stave off corruption charges looming large on his personal horizon.
And today is day one of the start of year three of the Russian war against Ukraine.

Hard to believe it has been three years of war in Ukraine. I also called some politicians Pied Pipers in a post a couple of days ago. They really do seem to have people in a trance. Let’s keep hoping for better days.
I wish they would get better, but increasingly I feel that to be wishful thinking.
Unfortunately, I think you are right.
If you’d like, focusing on the positive aspects of your life and the connections you’ve made might bring some solace amidst the chaos. Happy birthday nonetheless.
