Dementia
Separates the mind from the body
Sometimes rapidly
Sometimes with slow deliberation.
Inexorably
It stymies the flexibility
Of the most acute bodily organ.
Like a lazar
It pinpoints
And shoots out the controlling lights
Of this vital organ
Distorting and blistering
The mind’s road map.
The sting in the tail of this vile scorpion
Reduces the loftiness of cranial cognition
To a slimy, jellied mess.
