Thought

Once upon a time, loyalty and allegiance were paramount. They were the main considerations people weighed when playing sport, supporting football clubs, and joining various other sporting alliances.

Loyalty and allegiance also counted when it came to the workplace, social institutions, in pretty well every aspect of life.

These days, loyalty and allegiance count for nothing. Those qualities have been supplanted by money.

These days, everything is done for money. Nothing else counts.

Permanent loyalties and everlasting allegiances are dead  in the water.

Indeed, it could be stated that the love of money has become that corrosive quality of ‘nothing else counts’ that now pervades each and every aspect of life.
