Welcome to country

All public buildings, churches, shopping centres, venues, including parks, schools, hospitals, and other utilities, may eventually have to have a prominently placed plaque acknowledging the traditional owners of the land on which the building stands.

A time will come when entering any public or government-controlled building will require audibly acknowledging the traditional ownership of the land on which the building stands.9

Purchasing and flying an Aboriginal flag from every residence in Australia should be compulsory.

All public transport should have pre-recorded messages played as buses and trains travel through or aeroplanes pass over traditional lands, advising the name of the group whose land is being traversed or overflown.

Every school morning should acknowledge the owners of the country upon which these institutions are constructed. It would be good for all students to learn and recite that acknowledgement.

Changes to school curricular must continue to maintain and expand the learning that takes place through study and appreciation of Aboriginal stories and culture. This should continue on to be a part of tertiary education in all fields of study.
