The Disregarded Generation

For all intents and purposes, the federal government regards Baby Boomers as the disregarded generation.

They are seen as people cast aside and counted for very little in the eyes of the government.

A bothersome nuisance. A group who have to be looked after from the viewpoint of welfare.

And that’s especially the case for those many Baby Boomers who didn’t bother saving, who didn’t prepare themselves for a life after work, and who are welfare dependent.

This group costs the government a lot of money. Money they resent spending. To counter this cost, the government looks upon those Baby Boomers who were careful, prudent, and managed their money well to provide for themselves in old age as that section who can be hooked into and taxed to death in one way, shape, or form.

With that  tax being applied to those who didn’t in any way prepare for old age often  other than to be wasters.

Part of the problem, of course, has to do with the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the aged care programs, and all those other host of paraphernalia groups that hang around seeing how much they can take out of old people by way of providing, at best, mediocre services for astronomical cost.

Self funded retirees get hit for six if they have to call for support to assist with home care because the services that are provided are not great.

The charges for those services are over the moon.

When the government revised my aged care and brought in the new scheme in November of 2025, they looked at skimming money from people who were being provided for. What they didn’t do was look at what providers of those services were actually charging. So the providers were happy to be left alone and celebrated by upping their charges big time, with, of course, services or benefits available to those dependent upon support from the government being slashed.

The paperwork attached to my aged care is absolutely horrendous. The processes are complex. And the outcomes, at best, very minimal.

It’s indeed true to say that old people, from a government viewpoint, are a waste of space. Once their monies are stripped from them in every which way by the government, they’re regarded as being garbage.
