Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

I’m a law-abiding citizen

And it is plain to see

I’ve never broken any law

No not intentionally.

Non-est factum is my motto

This awareness has a use

It means that if I break the law

Ignorance is no excuse.

Caveat emptor keeps me on my toes

Without awareness, I could sin

Transgress unintentionally

And end up in the bin.

As a man now very old

I want to avoid disgrace

That happens when the law is breached

I don’t want egg to spoil my face.
